Santa Barbara

I was in California last week visiting Santa Barbara, Montecito and Los Angeles,
so I thought I would start my travel journal with this beautiful country house in Santa Barbara.

This home was designed by famed architect G.W. Smith.
Smith's work was most notable during the Hispanic and Mediterranean revival of the 1920s.

Lovely NYC Apartment

New listing in Manhattan's Carnegie Hill neighborhood...
I love the traditional spaces with some added modern design.

This is a great game room, eating area or home office.
The herringbone floor adds so much to the monochromatic space.

I love this kitchen table- the stripes are such a surprise as are the Eames chairs. Very fun.

This is such a soothing room with petal pink walls and eggplant carpeting. A chic mix.

Anyone know who I can credit for the design? Well done, beautiful home.

Lizzie Fortunato Jewels

As the 2011New York Fall Fashion week kicks off today, we're eager to see Kathryn and Elizabeth Fortunato new accessory collection. These Twins "get it" when it comes to accessories. Their pieces are strong, bold, whimsical and use reclaimed materials from around the world.  The prefect statement accessory!

The Mashburn's

Sid and Ann Mashburn have received praise for their respective male (Sid Mashburn) and female (Ann Mashburn) boutiques, in Atlanta's Westside. Each boutique is known for its edited, tailored, classic and somewhat preppy mix of staples as well as a few pieces from their own private label.

If you think you'd swoon over their boutiques, check out a couple pictures of their happy home.

A Colorful Vibe

Kelly Wearstler shared her new blog yesterday, MyVibe MyLife, with some pics from her office and some organizational tricks, like her color trays for each client.

Like Kelly, we try and stay organized by containing our inspirations for each client in separate bins.

We organize & label everything in our office! Drawers full of hardware, wallcoverings, stone and wood samples and each manufacturer has a home on our shelf. I also keep file drawers full of magazine clippings, filed by room or idea so I can grab a collection of looks that fit a client, like... "tudor style kitchens". Clear drawers hold fabric swatches from our go to showrooms like, Quadrille, Madeline Weinrib, Sister Parish and Schumacher.

Each week, Anne Marie schedules a showroom to visit our office and present new lines or ideas. This builds our library and keeps us up to date on all the new happenings in the design world. To keep our designs fresh and new- these meetings become so important to the process.

I use this large bulletin board above my desk to remind me of ideas, travel snapshots or past projects to inspire, remind and push me to discover the next big idea.

It's In The Details...

I'm loving the architectural details of this remodeled duplex on Chicago's Gold Coast.

The floor-to-ceiling windows, sleek wrought iron staircase and the crown molding which nicely enhances the lacquered blue ceiling.....TO DIE FOR!

What type of architectural details draw your attention?
