The Paper Lady

We're constantly drawn to inspirational people, who express their creativity in the way they carry on. As part of this series, which features individuals and their business ventures, we're asking them some questions that give us a peek into their well lived lives. Here's what The Paper Lady had to say.....

ID: What's on your bedside table?
The Paper Lady: A stack of books that I am dying to read, but have not…three picture frames with my kiddos and husband, a lamp, a glass of water

ID: What's your signature accessory?
The Paper Lady: My watch (which is funny b/c I am never on time to anything) and usually a scarf

ID: Where do you find inspiration?
The Paper Lady: My children, my parents and the people in the “Pass it On” campaign ads (they pull at my heart strings and make me want to be a better person)

ID: Your home is a reflection of...?
The Paper Lady: My style, the house I grew up in, three wild children and one hound constantly at play

ID: Your go-to color is...?
The Paper Lady: PINK!

ID: Your favorite place in denver is...?
The Paper Lady: The Botanic Gardens, or my backyard in the Spring

ID: When you look in your closet you see...?
The Paper Lady: A sea of color and pattern, and way too many wire hangers

ID: Your proudest professional accomplishment is...?
The Paper Lady: Being my own boss and having a storefront to call my very own

Thanks Rosie! May you continue to be inspired!

I love wallpaper!

Everyone knows that I am a fan, or just stop by my house and its obvious with 9 of my rooms covered in pattern! The Wallpaper Collective has very hip, smart, modern, unique papers that offer bold statements and a wide range of colors that will transform the room with one strip- these are not backdrop papers, these are wowzers!

Here are only a few of my favorites but truth be told, I just ordered 21 samples....

Lil' miss cottontail- sophisticated yet still sweet and charming for a nursery.

A subtle, very subtle snow scene- fun for a mudroom in a mountain retreat,

Modern, comic chicks- chirping silently while baby sleeps...

This is one of the very few, calming papers offered by the Wallpaper Collective- pink and raspberry stripes with a swirl of fun.

Look closely! Tennis racquets and balls geometrically aligned- reason enough to build a tennis pavilion!

I think this is going in my daughters bedroom hallway. My favorite animal is the elephant so this sweet elephant walk needs to find a place in my home. I love the varying sizes and the trunk to trunk kisses.

This is a very chic take on the traditional toile and with its lacquer finish, it adds a lot of glamour!

Happy shopping,
this is a very fun site and even if you are not in the mood to paper your walls-
you will definitely get a kick out of the smart designs.

Christine Centenera Rocken' Style

I have such respect for women whose style is both edgy and classic. Christine Centenera's style is just that. She has the ability to layer texture, bright colors and a killer pair of shoes.  She makes pulling together just the right outfit look effortless.

More in Santa Barbara...

I loved this store!
A linen boutique dedicated to rentals only- what a great idea. No more selecting from the standard 11 colors. This store had the prettiest linens to dress your table. If you were not planning a party- you were by the time you left!

Sequin tablecloths- my daughters would be thrilled to eat off these each night!

Chirping at The Canary

I expected the sister hotel to Shutters on the Beach to be great but found it truly fabulous. It is no surprise The Canary Hotel perfected the Santa Barbara style with a wonderful mix of earthy tones, Moroccan tiles, Spanish textiles and a California cool ambiance. Very chic.

The roof top pool is surprisingly very private, nestled into the hilltop of red tile roofs.

The interiors are warm & comfortable with all the luxuries quietly hidden beneath.

Architect, G.W. Smith

More homes designed by the great Mr. Smith,

Smith's work has been widely published in Architectural Digest, California Home, Veranda and many others. If this is your style- research George Washington Smith. You will find many examples of his work and you'll notice his designs are the most timeless, clean and un-fussy. Each building is uniquely their own but like most great architects, you will see his touch on them all.

Shopping trip thru California...

I had a wonderful trip to Santa Barbara a couple of weeks ago and visited Rooms & Gardens, a beautiful store on State Street in the heart of town. I met Eric, who opened the store in 1993 with his wife Jami. Thanks Eric for the tour, including your rear garden- chickens and all!

The store has a wonderful mix of new and old with great displays and room interiors to inspire!

And a wonderful rear garden with antique seating and tools....and of course chickens.

If you visit Santa Barbara- this stop is a must.
